In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the company's tax function, with a focus on Sales & Use Tax and Motor Fuels Excise Tax compliance. You will collaborate cross-functionally with various internal teams and report directly to the Tax Manager, gaining exposure to multiple areas of the business. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position offering a clear path for professional growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and file Sales & Use Tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of Motor Fuels Excise Tax returns; training and support will be provided if needed.
  • Conduct tax research as necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor tax law changes and assist with implementing necessary updates to processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax filings.
  • Assist with audits and respond to tax authority inquiries.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date tax records and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on Sales & Use Tax experience is required.
  • Motor Fuels Tax experience is a strong plus, but not mandatory-willing to train the right candidate.
  • Strong knowledge of state and local tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including working with pivot tables and large data sets.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
